Trading up my ā23 Tacoma for a ā24 Ranger. Hope itās a good decision Iāve drove Toyotaās for a lot of years, feels strange getting something elseI traded a 17 Tacoma for my 19 Ranger No way in hell I'd buy another Tacoma no matter when they are available!
I had Rangers in the past. When the older versions were discontinued I needed another midsize truck and the obvious and only real option was the Tacoma. It was a dog and I only had it for two years waiting on the return of the Ranger. Can I ask whatās prompting yāall to switch out from Toyota so shortly? What might their shortcomings be as you see them? Usually I thought Toyota people wonāt consider anything else. Though as a Ford guy, the fact that Iām interested in checking out the Tacoma in addition to Ranger surprises me a bit.
The 3rd Gen powertrain in the Tacoma has to be the worse in the history of mid-size trucks. I even had a ā16 (first year) and gave it another shot in a ā23 (last year). 4th Gen I just really donāt like the look of the truck for one and a hybrid powertrain 4-cylinder donāt sit well either. Not really a shortcoming just a preference thing. Iām sure in 5-10yrs they all will be but until then Iām gonna enjoy a 405hp v6ā¦.badass for a mid-size truck. New Ranger is a good looking truck I think, Ford got it right this go around and actually put some time into it I think. Can I ask whatās prompting yāall to switch out from Toyota so shortly?
