Wildtrak canopy install – need XLT bedrail covers?

Hey guys, I’ve got a Next-Gen Ranger Wildtrak and I’m planning to put on a canopy. If I remove the aluminum rails on the tub, do I need to swap to the XLT bedrail covers or can I just mount it as is?

Not sure of the "metal" bed rails. U.S. version has plastic bed rails.

My topper needed "bed shims" to hold the weight which sits on top of the rails. These shims were provided by the topper dealer.

The issue with the Wildtrak is that once you remove the chase rack, there are no bedrail covers.

So do I just fit the canopy directly onto the bedrail, or is it better to swap to the XLT bedrail covers first for a cleaner look?

US does not manufacture under the widltrack name. All rangers come with plastic bed rails and my topper sits on said plastic bed rails.
I would ask the topper/canopy dealer what they sugest. I would think without a bed rail, the topper which would vibrate, would scratch the paint on the truck.
Attached are pictures before the topper was installed. Also pictures of the shims in place to hold the weight of the topper as the US bedrails are not strong enough to hold the weight alone.
