I just finished installing this guard by Foutz Motorsports for the "active suspension control module" that sits on the frame on the driver's side near the rear suspension, about 1/2 way back on the back door on the driver's side.
Here's the module with the stock guard plate. That large cable running above it is the power line to the compressor in the bed.
Remove the existing guard by removing the two bottom screws and unhooking the plastic strain relief on the big cable bundle.
Next, put those screws back in with the guard removed. Then remove the four bolts on the module itself holding the module in place and install the new guard into the holes in the module.
The new guard has standoffs and bolts already installed:
This is all pretty tight next to the body, it's tucked up under the side pretty well. The bolts on the new guard were a little tough to align with the module while it was bolted on and I had to use a crescent wrench to get the bolts tight as there's very little clearance to the body.
After doing this, I think it might be easier to remove the whole module and bracket (the four bolts to the sides) and assemble the new guard onto the module and bracket while it's not on the truck and then mount it up using those four bolts on the side at the end instead. Might be an easier install for whoever tries this next.
In any case the final product is pretty nice:
