been bugging me since i got my truck but i think its very dangerous to let this feature turned on (if it is a feature) specially if you have small children in the backseat. anyone knows how to fix this? what im trying to say is that anybody inside can open any door even if locked and even above 12mph any work around like forscan or any means would be nice.

There should be a small keyslot or mechanical toggle on the inside of the door jam near the lock mechanism that when actuated prevents the door from ever being opened from the inside. I believe this is only in the rear for obvious reasons.

Or just discipline your children.

Child Safety Locks, rear door on the door edge where it meets the jam.

child lock sure serves the purpose but its not applicable to my needs in this case. my old expedition doesnt do this so why ford removed this function is a mystery to me. i hope our forscan gurus looks into this.

Ford has very few vehicles with electronic door releases. Currently it is the Mach-E which has electronic child safety locks instead of manual ones and that’s the only model pertinent to this scenario I can think of at the time with such an option. Lincoln Aviator uses electronic latches but still retain a physical lockout.

I am not sure what specifically an Expedition is doing but I can look into that and get back when I have a chance. I have not personally remembered an experience where I was prevented from opening the door while moving so I’m curious now, in fact I’ve had to be involved in testing opening the door while moving to ensure the safety systems of putting the vehicle in park applied. I doubt ForScan will solve this problem as the lock is mechanically driven by the physical cable as you go for the latch inside. I don’t believe there’s a way to isolate it electronically. The child safety lock just mechanically separates the latch inside completely.

I can open my rear doors at speed on my 2018 ford Taurus. Flicking on the child safety lock does fix this.

Is it really a common feature to not allow rear doors to open at speed? Outside of child safety locks, I have never heard/seen this.

I wouldn't like that, there's so many scenarios. What if the car is on fire, then no one can get out?

Or what if your battery dies while the speed sensor still has the doors locked.

I'm still a little confused by this, but I don't have a current gen ranger (or other ford product) at the moment. My current car though, like most I've driven recently, locks all the doors when I put the car in drive and start to drive down the street. When the doors are locked, they will not open from the inside or outside. When I stop and put it in park, they'll unlock, or if the door is able to be opened.

You can still manually unlock the door and open it at speed or anytime else. Is the Ranger set so that when you pull the handle, it also unlocks the door and engages the latch? So, its an automatic unlock and door open (1 operation) vs unlock and then pull the handle (2 operations).

this is what im after, mine opens from the inside at speed which for me is very unsafe for anyone.
