I'd cut a piece of Plastic or other semi-rigid material to form a Brace under the Front of the extension just before the shiny black trim. Would stop the lever effect.

So it wasn't my final solution. I bought this mount from Industrial Evolution out of Sydney.

Took about a month to be manufactured and shipped here but the company was easy to deal with.

It's solid, requires only minimal trimming in unseen places, and is SUPER STURDY. I am very happy

Full access to the main screen, cup holders are still accessible too.

2 hours install with dinner in those 2 hours.

Don't forget to plug your wireless charging pad back in - Ask me how I know. FML

That looks good!

I hope the aftermarket eventually comes up with some mounts that attach to some of the upper dash trim or designs a dash mount in place of the center speaker cover. Such a baffling waste of space there.

The Garmin tread is a great platform, mounting is a little lacking for this truck, I like your dash mount idea!

Did you have to take the dash apart to run the wire down that pillar or did you just force the wire through? I was looking at it last night in my RR and it seems pretty tightly together. I’m looking to run a wire for the Procal.

I’ve run a wire down the A pillar. The easiest is going to where the hard plastic meets the headliner, then down inside the rubber trim until near the footwell and then you can thread it through to the fuse block / OBD2 port.

You can push it in all the cracks with a trim tool, the rubber around the door has a deep void. Pretty easy to hid all the wires.

Hello everyone.
Just stumbled upon something that might be of interest to people looking for dash mount solutions
Looks like a decent build, mounting handheld radio, transceiver, phone and a camera…

here is the link.
From New Zealand !

I have a garmin tread overland I’ll be moving between my Bronco (loads of dash mount options) and the Ranger (kinda none).
I figured I would try to make something work.
got the ram mount 1.5” ball as the garmin unit requires. Pics should be self explanatory. I’m ok with the result. However when underway the garmin acts like a lever and trys to pull up the front of the speaker grill.
My ideal solution would be a molle panel formed in the shape of the speaker grill that would replace the speaker grill.

I just traded my Tacoma for a Ranger. I made a nice Ram mount. I switch my Garmin Montana between two motorcycles and my truck, so this modular design is nearly a requirement.

For me, the challenge is that my Garmin unit is heavier than yours. I think your reported "levering," effect will make your approach a no go for me.

Regardless, thanks for for helping me with a starting place for a solution.

Is the montana that heavy? I’ve been eyeing that one because who doesn’t need another Garmin!
Check out my new solution a few posts up.
