On the way home with my 2024 ranger I had a wrench come up on the dash. And then the wrench came off and the engine light came on

Haven't had anything like this on the RR yet, but I did have something like this happen on my 2023 Mazd 3 that's my daily. Happened for me when we had that sub-zero cold spell two years ago, the car only had a few thousand miles on it.

Took it to the dealer in limp mode and by the time they got to it, started it up, codes self-cleared and haven't had an issue since. Now at a bit over 49k (yes, I drive about 22-25k a year).

Could be a software bug that false trips under a very specific condition and self-clears.

Given that many common parts are manufactured by vendors and are often off-the-shelf parts, like fuel pumps for example, or wiper blade motors, or the actual uC used in the PCM, I wonder if there is a part that's commonly used, like a sensor, maybe something critical for engine operation, that's sensitive to cold when new, but isn't susceptible after enough temperature cycling. Just a theory.

Yep I think it's either a software bug or a buggy motherboard that controls everything.

Two almost twin Rangers having the same two type of alerts on Sunday is really odd.
