If I didn't think I would need to tow a boat I would have no problems getting a Maverick. I especially like that the newer models fixed up their center display.

Ranger Tremor, Wildtrak, Platinum, and ST options. I have the Raptor but I would have bought a Ranger with the 3.0T but without the super expensive off-road suspension and a nicer interior while retaining the towing capacity.
I wish that Ford would make a Ranger ST. Between the Ranger Raptor and the Explorer ST parts that already exist, it wouldn't take much to develop a Ranger ST. If they offered a Ranger ST with the 3.0 turbo, AWD, the Ranger Raptor interior, a mild lowing kit with aggressive street focused suspension tuning, and a 6500+ lbs towing capacity, it would be amazing. If the manual transmission from the Dark Horse was optional, I would buy one tomorrow.

I would figure Ford will go the other route if anything and put out a Tremor, not an ST or Lobo version. The 2.7 competes with the 3.0 nose and nose, due to the weight difference, so the 2.7 already is an option and screams. But I think fewer truck owners want a lowered hot rod than a true truck use and/or off road capable unit.

I dont know. If that was true, the maverick wouldnt be selling. There are probably just as many people who like street trucks, though they probably dont come here because everything on this site is about lifting vehicles. You cant find anything about lowering or suspension related to street driving, minus mine and one other guys. I always hope for street sections but you have to local car clubs and scca type forums for the type of driving trucks do 98% of the time, which is on road

exactly why I went from a RR to an XLT FX4 with the 2.7
There is the Ford warrantied ProCal tune for the 2.7 that gets the performance to near the stock 3.0 but it just isnt as fun as the 3.0.

If the Ford Explorer was still a proper SUV: body on frame with the towing capacity to match, i likely would have bought the Explorer ST instead of the Ranger Raptor.

right but side by side the 2.7 Ranger vs the RR 3.0. nearly as quick off the line... reason? Weight, the RR is way heavier, and the difference makes the two nearly identical on the road. I really feel other than the sound, my 2.7 feels quicker than my RR did.

There is less than 100lbs difference in weight between them.

I think between the 2.3 and 2.7 it is less than 100 lbs but the RR is much heavier

at least what I have read

edit ford had weights listed but I can’t find them anymore

https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2024-ford-ranger-xlt-ecoboost-v6-first-test-review

motor trend has 4740 for the 2.7 l

https://www.motortrend.com/news/2024-ford-ranger-raptor-pros-cons-review

RR. 5389

And regular ranger 4433

all 4x4 I believe

And that seems correct. I assume they weigh them.

Mind sharing your source for this? I have never been able to find published curb weights for the different trims.
You made the claim first. Show your source. I'm busy right now

I am not talking about the engine weight, I am talking about the vehicle weight, and way more than 100 lbs. lol.

Okee dokie!

A few minutes later…

Ford Ranger Maverick VS Ranger, it is obviously a marketing issue! 1768490623174-mv

So we have an actual human saying the curb weight of his RR is 5,325 lbs. This is supported by the DMV making him pay a weight penalty for the truck.

Then we have a different actual human going to a scale and discovering that his XL 2WD weighs 4,260 lbs (that’s subtracting 220 lbs for the driver, per his post).

Sooooo 5,325 lbs minus 4,260 lbs is 1,065 lbs.

And that’s why I “claimed” a Ranger Raptor weighs more than 1,000 lbs more than a 4x2 XL.

My own Ranger XL 4x4 lists 4,305 as the “shipped weight” on Ford’s own certificate of origin.

I also noted that I haven’t been able to find published curb weights, which is why I asked you for a source. I’m going off the best information I can find at the moment.

Your turn.
