Hi Guys,

I have spent the last few days fitting the 74 weld portal kit, apex tie rods and wilwood big brake kit option from 74 Weld directly.

All was going well until literally, the final 5 minutes of the install when we tried to get the stock wheels on.

They categorically do not fit the Wilwood big brake kit, I cannot push them all the way on. I'm currently rocking 2x30mm spacers each side, just to get the wheel on so I could drive home.

I have contacted 74 Weld and Quinn explained that they should fit and that the method 703s should also fit - having received the method sizings.. it doesn't look like it will.

Does anyone else have this kit? If so, please can you send me photos of your install and let me know if you had similar issues?

I'm at bit of a loose end - I can't go back to stock hubs because we've chopped the axle shafts, I can't put the stock brakes on because 74 Weld don't send the stock kit as well as the big brake kit callipers and I can't find wheels that are going to fit.

I'm in the UK, so 37" tyres in anything but R17 wheels don't exist.

First of all, congrats on doing something truly awesome. I won’t be much help here, but there was a truck posted here that looks like it has all the same equipment with the portals and big brakes that had Method 17 rims on it, so it looks like it can be done. Search portals in the thread description and it was a post by Adventure Labs.

Hey, unfortunately, being in the UK we are really limited on tyres.

I would be fine if 17" rims fit.. but they don't seem to - despite 74 weld saying multiple times that they do - I'm really confused.

Thank you! Appreciate the comments. I haven't been able to enjoy it yet as I am stressing about getting the correct rims and tyres sorted.

I've had a read through that post and added a comment - thanks for sharing!

the wheel barrel doesn't fit over the brake calipers? i hope you don't end up having to grind anything on those calipers because they look awesome.

i assume its the offset of the wheel, since everyone is saying they work, but your factory ones only work with spacers. Ask them if you need a 0 or +35mm offset in order for them to work. By looking at how much others stick out with the portals, it's probably +35mm.

Since they (74Weld) only sell the +35mm.....

The method wheel that 74weld designed for the kit is a +45 offset so I am guessing he will either need those wheels or a 10mm spacer to clear the brakes

The screenshot I posted is from 74welds website ⬆.
Maybe if you buy the first 35mm they throw the other 10mm in for free.

You are correct, that one does say it’s for their portals.
Only reason I posted that one was OP kept saying 703 wheel model.

we’re doing a lot of work, when they’re website tells what to use. Maybe we get a discount or free Tshirt.

Thinking about it what is wrong with using spacers? unfortunately you're already likely to fail an MOT (when the times comes) or get pulled with the stock +55 wheels and portals. so might as well go all out with some 0 offset wheels :)
