Again please speak to geometry of a coil over verses a puck, the level you indicated is still a puck with a new uca. The puck retains the factory compression of the spring, coil lifts increase the tension on the springs, new coil overs have a higher compression rate leading to a rougher ride.

I’m waiting on the BDS leveling kit (2.5in). I think the coil top-hat lifts are junk and a poor man’s or at least uniformed man’s answer to a quick solution. They will suffer mechanical damage in the long run, IMO.
Thousands of vehicles are using spacers with no problems, my '21 had them and no problems for 60K miles that I owned it. The problem arises if you try to put more than a 2.5" spacer, which then stresses the ball joints.

LOL, all of you post point to a comment you made about spacer lifts. One of them even has a link to a BDS lift with, wait for it.... a spacer lift.
… and a properly sized replacement shock absorber, which isn’t included in an $80 spacer lift. I’ll take a properly engineered solution over a cheap fix every day of the week.

To each their own. I’m not an engineer or a mechanic; I’m only sharing my opinion and experience. And while you might be questioning my experience, here is what I did to the suspension and steering to my 2016 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon:

Dana 44 Front/Rear 4.88 Gears
BDS 4.5" Short-arm Suspension System
Dynatrac ProGrip Brake System
Dynatrac Ball Joints
Procomp 17x9 51 Series Rock Crawler Steel Wheels
Longer Front Drive Shaft
Steer Smarts Yeti Extreme Top Mount Drag Link
Steer Smarts Yeti Extreme Tie Rod Assembly
Steer Smarts Yeti XD Adjustable Track Bar
AEV Rear Differential Cover
AEV Raised Front Track Bar Mount
Steer Smarts Yeti Damper Bracket
Steer Smarts Neutral Steering Stabilizer

Fair enough. That makes a difference.
It's one of the things I didn't take into account.
The other is that many of us that use only spacers, is that we never take it off road, or it's mild off road without serious articulation of the suspension. It's more of a look's thing. In fact, the '21 I mention was 2WD.

The only real damage you're going to do with a top hat spacer style lift is if you bottom out your suspension and haven't made any considerations for bump stops. The bump stop prevents the shock internals from hitting the upper cylinder cap, which would then bend the shock piston rod. The beauty of modern vehicles is that quite often you will find that the bump stop is now a part of the shock assembly (check under the boot for a large foam/rubber piece) that makes that less of a problem.

As far as geometry goes, your ball joints don't care how they got to the angle that they are in (top hat spacer, coil lift, sitting on jack stands), they only care that they are at that angle. You may run into issues with down travel having new limiting factors that could accelerate wear (ball joints, control arm bushings, etc) but that would also be true if you are using long travel shocks and stiffer springs

The real downside to tophat spacers are more in that they don't allow for MORE travel, it just moves the center of your stock travel down in the articulation arc.

Update: The Dobs lift is in! It rides a bit smoother over small bumps, still good road feel, handles great. There will be a video out from Shock Surplus on it! Seems they were really impressed by it!

Great to hear! Any chance you could post pictures of it? I ordered mine and was debating keeping it around the 2.5” lift

It still has a little rake to hitch the boat up, but at 2-2.5" should be level with no load.

Let me get bsck to you on that one. It was the IMS shocks front rear and the front spring was the one that was 0-95# load and 2"? I think. Ill check when Im home.
