I have Wi-Fi sockets on both door opener receptacles. I disable or enable power to the door opener with my phone. Super simple and convenient.
This what I do. Opener is plugged into an Amazon plug. I can use my phone to turn it on and off or since I have Alexa active in the truck, just tell it to turn it on or off when I am sitting in the truck.

Park in the garage? lol
LOL!! Easier said than done. The Ranger is too long to fit in our garage. I don't understand what the builder was thinking when they drew up the plans for the house and garage.

When we were house hunting and took a look at the house that we're now in, it didn't come to me to ask why the seller had his Lincoln Mercury Town car in the driveway instead of in the garage. I found out the answer a couple days after move-in day when I finally got everything cleared out of the garage and pulled one of our vehicles into it.

Yeah, this is my plan B although not ideal. Ideally, I want to be able to utilize the garage door opener's "smart-features" and Genie's Aladdin Connect app.

They only work when the FOB is present...
WOW, I’m going to run out and test this right now! The user manual says nothing about this. I did notice that the electric door locks are disabled when the vehicle is locked and no fob present.

I think, don’t hold me to it, but if you open the door, even without the fob, the opener will work.

but if you reach through the window after the truck has gone to sleep, the remote won’t work

I did a little research/experiment relating to the key fob earlier today, and the HomeLink buttons were still operable after trying two different procedures.

Procedure 1:
1) Rolled down driver side window.
2) Locked vehicle with key fob. Took and left key fob in the house.
3) Reached thru open window and pressed HomeLink button.
Result: Garage door opened

Procedure 2:
1) Left fob in the house.
2) Entered unlocked vehicle via driver side front door.
3) With all windows closed, remote locked the vehicle using the Ford Pass app.
4) Pressed HomeLink button.
Result: Garage door opened

Maybe I didn't wait long enough to let the truck go into sleep mode. 🤷‍♂️

Might to need to put the key in a faraday cage box for this to work. The key has a longer reach than you might expect.

I received a response from Genie last night. They did not have a solution or workaround that addressed the safety issue with an always hot HomeLink system and their garage door opener(s).

I haven't researched the HomeLink always hot issue any further. Instead, and I didn't mention it previously in any of my posts in this thread, I stumbled across a Plan C which is to erase/clear the programmed action(s) from the HomeLink and just use my cellphone to operate the garage door opener. I linked the Genie app to both Alexa and Google Assistant, so now opening and closing the garage door is just a voice command or using the Google Assistant or Alexa app on my phone. My phone is always on me or within reach so I think this is the solution for me.

so back home finally,,,..

I verified With the window open and without the key, the homelink is inactive after the truck has gone to sleep

however, open the door, and homelink is active with or without the key

So presumably, if the alarm system is armed, windows are closed, and the doors locked, and then a door is opened either by breaking a window and unlocking and opening the door(s) or by forcibly opening the door, HomeLink becomes active? Yikes!!

Yes that’s the mode I’m in also.

Now if I can just get chamberlain’s Q app to be Apple car play enabled so I don’t have to dig my phone out of my pocket and open the door from the car screen

Thanks to all for the info!

Not sure what you mean. I park in garage w/ window down. Sometimes need to get something in car or the tailgate is locked shut. I just reach in drivers window and hit unlock button to unlock the other doors. Key fob not present. Is it a menu setting?

Has anyone installed a Lariat Homelink visor in an XLT?

Mine came with my truck you can put the visor on your truck if you want there not wired not linked in any way
I am pretty sure the lariat visor has wires for the mirror and homelink transmitter as there are no batteries.
