It opens about 3/4 of the way, as I have it here, before it would hit a cover I would think. I could get a couple more looks tomorrow but it's just too damn cold out there now. 5 degrees with a "feels like" of -5 at the moment! I like the cold but this is a bit much.
Let me start with how awesome this rig is you've assembled. Amazing what time and money, LOTS of money, can do. I did get a chuckle after looking at your build and then your first post again, "at the fraction of the cost of a full-size Raptor." I'm not the best at mathing, but I'd say you're...
I really like them as they hold way more than it looks like they should. I have one full of recovery gear: tow strap, tree saver, soft shackles, tow point, couple "Matt's Straps" ratchet straps, some bungee cords, small air compressor for tires while in the other I have a gaggle of stuff to...
Thanks for the reply. It looks fantastic.
I'm right there with you on the reminders not to do stupid things as my recent front end "issue" will be my thing not to do again.
Bad luck to have an issue on round one but to have an issue with round two, the second set as well? Sure it could happen but I'd be starting to look at some sort of driveline thing, wheel, hub, driveshaft out of balance. Just playing the odds of getting two sets of bad tires from a company as...
This video is short and sweet and helps you make sure not to skip a step or miss where a fastener is located for the front end. Was very useful when you have pieces all over and putting back together too.
These little suckers, that allow the plastic tab on the "lower grill" (number 10 in the parts picture) to grip into the slots on the metal bumper, are a pain to remove and reattach. I would like to pick up a handful of them as I mangled a few during the three times I had it apart and back...
Around here it's pretty flat so very few places chains would be necessary or recommended. Plus main roads in most places are cleared relatively quickly. Some side streets and small neighborhoods near us don't get cleared very quickly at all however.
Driving around in 12-15" of snow this...
Well, if you don't leave it in 2WD AND turn off as much of the traction control as possible AND try to get the car drifting at every opportunity, I think you'd be fine.
Following weekend we got a good amount again. I'm guessing 12-15" plus? Here's the bed about half emptied and the truck before cleaned and after taking it out for a bit.
