FX4 is a couple skid plates and "tuned shocks".
I think if you went to Bilsteins or Rancho rear shocks and could find skid plates, you'd be FX4.
There is a front skid plate, a plastic gas tank plate and I think a differential plate. IDK if any of that is available aftermarket.
If you get a...
Have you looked at the GM tune? They make a tune kit, right from GM to get you to the "better" version of the engine. Cheaper than a new truck.
That said I think the big difference for towing between the GM and the Ranger is the rear axle. 3.42 vs 3.73 The 3.73 is far superior for towing.
Personally, I would NOT be happy with a NEW Ranger getting the rotors resurfaced. This is normally to help pulsation from warped rotors etc, and will shorten the life of the rotors.... I agree that this isnt going to help your issue. I personally would fight them on the resurface and try my...
I went Lariat for a couple reasons.
1. B&O stereo. No its not competition level but its good enough and I knew the standard wasnt gonna be.
2. The speedometer cluster. IDK why but I loved the upgraded gauges etc on the Lariat that doesnt come in the XLT
Those were my biggest factors. There...
I think you can still get deals on Lariat. I paid $43k for a used one with 5k miles, which was basically new. I found several used under 5k miles when looking.
Watch the TFL Trucks video of the 2.7 towing 5000 lbs and you will have your answer. IMHO anyway the 2.7 is the only way to go if you plan to tow a lot. It will just do it better and more comfortable.
Here is a comparison I did of the 2.3 Ranger vs the 2.7 Colorado towing up the same...
I have the v6. I didnt take measurements before and the new tires are already on.
There is a SLIGHT Rake now, but there was significant before the lift kit.
Its a 2.5 inch kit and I feel like I probably got 2 inches.
Several youtube videos of V6 rangers with same kit say they got 2 inches.
Before and after pics of my wheel/tire upgrade on a budget. Im not great with cameras, sorry!
Here is what I used/paid:
Rough Country level kit $518 installed with alignment (I simply didn’t feel like DIYing this one).

I got this whole thing figured out and got the exact look I was hoping for.
I will do a full write up with parts and pics in its own thread.
I ended up with a wheel with a Hub Bore 106.2 so used a 93.1mm ID to 106.1mm OD - Silver Aluminum Hubring and it all fit perfect. +12 on the new wheel offset
Its pretty common issue across all the 6g rangers.
I saw several review videos that discuss it. Edmunds comes to mind where they had like 20 people use it over a years time and many had this as an issue for them.
Adjusting the headrests and actually pushing on the back seat, from inside, where the latch is... thats what worked for me, didnt have to SLAM it with this method. Kinda a pain though.
