I watched that video months ago. He mentions that the 2.3 is not very refined...he isn't wrong about that. Everything else is personal opinion, which he is entitled to.
The 2024 2.3 does not require valve adjustments. That engine has hydraulic lifters.
I have been playing around with different things to add some interest to the hood. Initially, I bought fake/clone Raptor hood vents from eBay. They install using 3M Emblem tape. I covered that in an article I wrote below:
Guilty Pleasure: Fake Hood Vents
Truth be told, I felt like a poser...
Driving in sport mode or installing a performance throttle controller (Pedal Commander, Roar Pedal, etc) will likely help. I use a Roar Pedal set on the first Sport mode level (nothing too crazy) and it offers much better throttle response than the stock setup.
I think you are correct, and your taller tires are amplifying the condition. Early on, I installed a Roar Pedal to increase throttle sensitivity. I set it to the first level within the Roar Pedal sport mode (anything higher makes the throttle a bit twitchy). Now the transmission downshift with...
Thank you. Since you started this post (and inspired me to make that decal), I'm happy to make one for you (no cost!). I have vinyl in many colors already...let me know.
I like working with vinyl, so covered most of the badge with a dark gray vinyl, then created the Ford script on light gray vinyl using my Cricut. It seems to go well with my Cactus Gray paint and tones down some of the brightness of the badge.
I was considering that badge, but wanted to get away from the green leaf. Instead, I created a decal with my Cricut. By using dark gray and mustard yellow, it has a different tone.
In my case, I'm trying the ecoboost decal on my doors (under the Ranger decal I created).
Ivan from Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics just published a video on recommended scan tools on sale through Prime Days:
I bought the TopDon TopScan a few months ago and really like it.
I just did the same to mine this weekend. It really is the easiest way to dechrome those letters. It is also reversible by cleaning it with mineral spirits.
I removed the factory running boards and installed hoop steps. I also 3D printed a pair of trail sights for the hood (think Bronco). I don't do much trail running, but I wanted to add something to the hood.
I'm not really a fan of running boards on midsize trucks, as I am 6'4" tall. I don't need them for entry and find that I smack my calf on exit. That's especially annoying during a Michigan winter when the running board is full of road slop. I was going to take them off, but my 5'1" wife said...
I have the same issue as @Atom!, and was thinking those hoops might be the answer. I drove a Nissan Frontier with those, and found I could exit the truck without touching either hoop (my left leg drops first, landing between the hoops).
I appreciate you sharing the article. The more info shared helps us all have more data points to ask informed questions.
That being said, I am increasingly suspicious of these "experts" on YouTube raising alarms. I spent over 30 years at GM and know how these products are developed and how...
