I never buy any extended warranty’s. When I explained my position to the finance guy at the time that I bought my Ranger, he looked at me like I had 2 heads! He asked “So, what are you going to do if your new truck needs a major repair?” I replied that I was buying a new Ford truck, and that I...
Note that there is no mention of the powertrain warning, despite the fact that I showed them a picture of it. I suspect and hope that it is covered by one of the three codes they discovered.
Today is Wednesday 5/28/25 and I just got my truck back. I am happy that I got a chance to drive a ‘24 2.3 for a week - and I am very happy that I waited for my ‘25.
Diagnosis is attached.
BTW - the dealer gave me a new 2024 Ranger XL as a loaner. The 2025 engine runs much better! It is much stronger and it sounds much deeper than the 2023 2.3. The brakes on the 2025 also grab much stronger and faster, although the 2024 brakes have a more linear and progressive feel, which I like.
Very nice looking truck and family! I hope that you do not experience the problems that I have with my (now 40 day old) Ranger 2.3 XLT. At 815 miles I got 2 warnings and had to bring it in to my dealer last Tuesday. I got “Turbo wastegate stuck closed” and a “Powertrain malfunction” warnings...
Well, Friday has come and gone and my Ranger is still at the dealership. I called Friday afternoon and the service manager told me that “The parts were held up at the factory due to quality concerns, so we have re-ordered them. We should know more by Tuesday and I will call you.”
*Sigh*
No. I thought about asking about the Powertrain malfunction, but I did not want to push my luck. Seriously! If when I go to pick it up, there is still no charge I will certainly ask about it! As it was, I had to show my drivers license and disclose my insurance company to get the loaner, but...
Update:
I drove my Ranger in to my dealership this morning, and I showed the assistant service manager the warnings that I posted here. She asked if I saw them on the vehicle, or only on the FordPass app. I told her that they appeared on the dashboard of the vehicle. She said “Ok. No problem...
I bought a 2025 Ranger XLT with the new 2.3L MPC engine exactly one month ago (picked up on 4/16/25). I only have 815 miles on it now. Today, as I was driving to work, I got a “Powertrain Warning”. I pulled over and shut the truck off and restarted it and the warning was gone. I suspected it was...
Yes, but just know that Copilot 360 is not the same as the “tech package” as standard CP360 will not have adaptive cruise control or multiple camera views.
Are any of those trials bikes street registered? I ask because I have a 2012 KTM350EXC-f and a 2001 KTM520MXC (both street registered) but I am in my mid 60’s and they are feeling heavier as I age. I am considering a street registered trials bike to keep trail riding. I live in MA and our trails...
I just purchased an XLT with the FX4 and tech packages. The only things that I miss are the better seats (people have claimed that the Lariat seats are shaped better), push button start and Homelink.
Knowing what I know now, I may have paid the significant upcharge for the Lariat,… maybe…..but...
On YouTube, JMCgarage is claiming that the new 2.3 is putting out 300hp and 310 ft/lbs of torque. I don’t know where he is getting those numbers though…
