Whenever possible, I wait to fill my fresh water tank until my last stop before setting up the camper. I realize this isn’t always possible. But water in the tank adds a lot of weight, why tow that weight around if you can avoid it.
I have a line-x liner and a bed mat both. The liner is great for protecting the bed from rust from the inside of the bed. It’s no help under the bed obviously. The bed mat is better at keeping things from sliding around and gives another layer of dent and scratch protection if that matters to...
I’ve also got the Michelin bed mat and am very happy with it. It fits great, even in the corners. The texture is aggressive enough to keep things in place, but not so aggressive that it’s uncomfortable to kneel on.
Most 3/8” torque wrenches will not be adequate for torquing your lug nuts. You’ll need a 1/2” drive for that. A torque wrenches is one item that I don’t recommend going harbor freight or cheaping out on. You don’t have to go with a high dollar snap on torque wrench, but a $20 harbor freight...
A lot of the basic maintenance isn’t very difficult and is pretty inexpensive if you do it yourself. I’d recommend a socket set with a 1/4”, 3/8” and 1/2” drive socket. I’d get a set with both metric and SAE sockets. You’ll need the metric sockets for the ranger, but once you start tinkering...
I didn’t change my oil early. I did it at 5000, 10000 and 15000. Other than the cost of the oil change, there’s no downside to doing a break in oil change. If it gives you peace of mind, then go for it.
Go to the general settings, under brightness. It’s right above the option to select dark mode.
I also prefer to keep the center display on dark mode.
This morning I got in my truck and headed into town. My center display and gauge cluster were both so dim that I could barely see what was displayed. What the heck? I tried adjusting the gauge brightness to the highest level and it didn’t help. Then I went to the center display and tried to...
You’ve got a little bit of squat, but I’ve seen worse. Can you redistribute any weight inside the trailer over or behind the trailer axle? Do you know what the tongue weight of your camper is, as it is currently loaded? I doubt that you are close to max towing capacity with your camper. Adding...
I get the best mileage in normal mode as well. Perhaps I’d get better mileage in economy mode, if I lived in flat country. But my mileage drops significantly when going uphill, or driving on windy days.
I believe that the advanced tow package is standard equipment on the raptor. Thus it cannot be optioned as it is standard equipment. You should have had the package of stickers from the dealer. It would look like this:
Do you have the advanced tow package? If so, I would talk to the dealership that you bought your truck from. You can also purchase the stickers on amazon.
I like the ACC, but have the lane keeping turned off. This is the first vehicle I’ve had with it. I’m much more annoyed at drivers that pull out in front of me than I am at the ACC braking to keep me from rear-ending the car or semi in front of me. And way less annoyed than at the guy doing 10...
As a rule, I’m happy that Ford is doing the recalls, and if they can do them OTA, even better. Our phones and the apps on them get 10x the “updates” that our trucks do and I don’t hear anyone complaining about that. Then again, we aren’t putting our families into our phones and driving it at...
