2.3 engine cover?

On the 2.3 ecoboost xlt is there a plastic engine cover on anyone's engine. It looks like all the provisions are here for a plastic cover but not actually sure any thoughts

I believe the covers were installed for a brief time on the 5th Gen Ranger in 2019 (only very early builds) then quickly deleted by Ford to save $.
My '19 was a mid year build in August of that year and didn't have one, i purchased it from Levittown Ford a sponsor and then reused it on my '24 2.3 fits perfectly .

For $150, is it really needed (not sarcasm)?

Nope not needed at all other than for looks, when i got mine a couple years ago it was $93 and i had some Ford reward points that deferred that cost.
Also some 5th Gen owners said it helped keep water dripping off the windshield cowl onto #4 cylinder plug/coil pack (when the truck was parked in a angled down pitch situation and even level surfaces due to the nose down angle of the suspension) causing a misfire or short so it had a functional purpose other than a 'look'.
From what i can see the design of that plastic trim at the base of the windshield is a different style then previous years, I took mine off when i traded so just repurposed it on my new truck.

Interesting that this thread should show up today. I got mine from Levittown last night and put it on this morning. I was surprised it wasn’t plastic, it is some kind of really high density foam. I think it finishes off the engine compartment nicely

Yes nice quality and the foam i think supresses some of the engine noise .

Those covers originally only came on the Lariat models. I don't know if they're still being installed, but if you live in an area that has a mouse problem, those covers make a very nice mouse house on top of the engine. Obviously, not desirable.

I bought the Levittown Ford kit previously mentioned but if you are looking to save a bit of coin, there is a running Marketplace thread on the 5G forums of a guy selling used take off covers with bolts for like $88.

The RRaptor didn't get an engine cover either, which I think is silly for how often people want me to pop the hood at work. And as stated on the early year 5th gens, my '19 Ranger Lariat had an engine cover. I felt like a cool kid when I found out not everyone has one

A dealer told me that Ford doesn't put the covers on the motor because of heat buildup under the hood with a turbo. Weather that be true or they just want to save money, I don't know. I know you can buy one for about $150m from Levittown Ford on line.
