The same MPC 2.3 motor was in the 2024 Mustangs, so it is not exactly new.
I thought everyone was claiming they got a brand new engine? The tune of the MPC engine is nothing like the trucks version. I never buy a vehicle with a "brand new engine!" First years are never the best years.

1st year for the new 2.3 in the rangers, and full size bronco. but it was in the mustang last year.

its not parts there is something going on with that motor, its brand new from ford so you will have teething issues.
Been in the Mustang and Explorer for all of 2024. No issues.

Update:
I drove my Ranger in to my dealership this morning, and I showed the assistant service manager the warnings that I posted here. She asked if I saw them on the vehicle, or only on the FordPass app. I told her that they appeared on the dashboard of the vehicle. She said “Ok. No problem. This should be covered by your warranty. The only reason that it might not be is if a rodent chewed through something.”
I waited for about an hour, and she came out to see me. She told me that the tech found that some parts were missing from the factory, and it was recommended that I do not continue to drive the vehicle so they were going to give me a loaner. I asked if she had more details on exactly what was missing. She explained that “some clips on the turbo wastegate are missing from the factory.” She explained that the parts would take a day or two to get and that my vehicle should be ready by the end of the week.
I am now driving a 2024 Ranger XL 2.3 loaner. I can now better appraise the differences between the older 2.3 and the newer 2.3 MPC engines. The newer engine certainly feels much more torquey and it sounds much deeper than this 2024 that I am now driving. Also, the brakes on my ‘25 bite much harder on initial application.
I will update again as this repair process unfolds…

The one thing im curious about in the new 2.3 if it has foged internals like the older one. Both crank and rods were forged which means it could make a lot more power without doing anything to the engine itself

That message means the wastegate on the turbo may not be working right. It can cause boost problems. Do not drive it hard until the dealer checks it. It could be a sensor or the actuator. Since it is new, let the warranty handle it. The dealer will run a test and fix it at no cost.

Read the whole thread, it was already fixed.

It makes more HP in the Mustang and is detuned in the Ranger so I would guess it does.

That sounds frustrating. You did the right thing by stopping and restarting the truck. It is good that you have a service appointment. The techs will check the turbo and make sure nothing is damaged. Keep an eye on it and don’t drive hard until it is checked.

Although I am inclined to agree with you that the new 2.3 engine in the ‘25 Ranger might be detuned in comparison to the Mustang application, I have not been able to find anything (dyno test or comparison) to confirm it - other than Ford’s unchanged ‘25 spec of 270 hp. It may indeed be putting out the full 300 hp in stock form. It certainly feels stronger than the ‘24 2.3 loaner I was given during the repair…

the sting of "It's a Brand new engine!" I hate it when I'm right.

That engine is now 2 years old with very few issues. We will talk again at 75,000 miles when the old 2.3s are full of carbon due to a single injection method. My 25 will burn the rear tires with traction control off.

lol had my 2025 Lariat 2.7 for a week and got a check engine light for P04DB Crank case vent malfunction. Took it in to the dealer and luckily it was just a sensor going bad and completely safe to drive. Still crazy having to take a truck in for engine work before it's even registered . New vehicles suck
