Apparently the Aussies quite like the 6G & were responsible for much of its design. Probably not a lot of new info here, but they do have a great pic deck of their XLT. They do mention a PHEV coming ā€˜next yearā€™ FWIW.

They do seem to have written a few words about the 6G though if anybody is looking for some light bedtime reading. And I think my dog is ready for bed here if I donā€™t feed her a bite of steak soon, so I may have to go do some reading!

You can also find some great reviews of it on YouTube along with a really cool video series they did for advertising where different people took the same truck about a week at a time and worked their way around Australia. Was very well doneā€¦ just like the truck!

and apparently they have many more entries in the midsize truck segment in Australia than I knew existed
All the major players plus some Indian, Chinese manufacturers as well. Even VW has an option (and itā€™s REALLY niceā€¦ but of course itā€™s a Ranger underneath in the new generation.) Still looks like Ford and the Toyota Hilux leading the way. Looked at one, but chose the Ranger for many reasons. It hasnā€™t proven me wrong yet!

Those Amaroks do look nice! Yes, most definitely a Ranger, but Iā€™m impressed with how much theyā€™ve changed to make it their own.

How did you find the Hilux compared to the Ranger just out of curiosity? It looks different from a Tacoma, but Iā€™m assuming itā€™s largely the same. Glad your Ranger has worked out to be a great choice so far!

Iā€™ve got a lot of time in the Hilux in other overseas assignments. In some cases they literally saved my life. Itā€™s a much better truck than the Tacoma (I sold an 2020 TRD right before I came out here) all the way around.

When I arrived here, with my history I started with a 2022 Hilux Rogue on the top of my list. Drove it. Found it to be what I expected. Wanted to drive the Ranger to do my due diligence (Iā€™m considering one for when I return to the States) and because I have a Bronco and love it, as I have my other Fords in the past.

After driving the Ranger it was no question. Absolutely loved everything about it. It was equipped better, drove better, rode better, had a better warranty, and the dealership here had much better customer service. All for less money than the Hilux. Iā€™ll get a three year test drive of the Gen 6 and you all get the good, bad, and ugly.

So far though, itā€™s been great. No bad. No ugly. Hope this helps!

Yes thank you! Having not experienced a hilux I wasnā€™t quite sure just how different it might be from the Tacoma. Not that I can buy one here, but more curiousity than anything. My plan is due diligence this time around as well. Enjoy the Ranger & keep updating about it!
