I do have proof - I have a Ford dealership saying in writing that the hose was incorrectly connected at the plant.

I called the service department at the dealership I bought it from on the Monday morning after I bought it on Saturday - 1.5 days after I bought. The soonest they could get me in was 9 days later. Kinda messed up that they sold me a bum truck and then wanted me to go without a truck for 9 days - I wasn’t going to keep driving it like that, and I don’t have another car. I called the dealership that is closest to me, and they agreed to fit me in the next morning.

All that said, when I bought vehicle I was told warranty work could be performed at any dealership in America.

Additionally, I called Ford customer service when this all occurred, and they told me this was an issue that needed to be dealt with by the dealer because Ford considered this a misassembled vehicle. The dealer initially said they’d be happy to sell me a warranty at cost as a resolution to the issue, and then quoted me 2x the price I can buy the same warranty from Granger Ford. It was also the same price they’d offered to sell me the warranty for at the time of purchase - very unlikely their cost.

Having owned several Fords and knowing their statistics for Ford reliability, I do not have any belief that it will be a reliable vehicle. That said, I’ve loved my Fords and this one too - I just know for a fact that it’ll have a lot of issues. I’m going to treat it like a BMW - dump it as soon as it’s out of warranty.

Bro, I don’t think I’m being unreasonable - Ford is saying it is “probably” fine, and won’t say unequivocally that they guarantee this issue hasn’t caused any longterm problem. I’m asking to PAY for an extended warranty at cost - if they’re right, and it is fine, they lose nothing. Doing so would also result in a happy customer instead of one who is not happy.

I shouldn’t be the one who has to take the risk of being on the bad side of a “probably” - the best Ford and some commenters in this thread can give me is “probably.” I’m sure you wouldn’t sign your name with greenbacks on the line that there is absolutely no issue. If you are for some reason, I’m happy to send you a contract and we get a notary to do it all up right - how confident are you?

It's not the dealers warranty to give and in reality, asking for it without proof that it's needed is a bit narcissistic. I'm not saying the hose issue isn't annoying, but if your engine has an issue at 70K miles, you can NEVER prove it was because of a hose. Also, not taking your truck back to the original dealership you bought it from is sketchy. If you really do own a business (it's odd your handle is just numbers) and a client was irritated with something you did but didn't allow you to try and correct it, you'd be well within reason to reject any further asks. That to me suggests you're either unreasonable or something else is going on.
Good luck with the Ranger. I have little doubt it will be a great truck for a long time!
