I can't speak for the Ranger but I leave the CTEK connected to my wife's Escape Hybrid with the hood slightly open, for up to two weeks. The charger usually starts at three, gets up to full charge, and maintains it.
I think that is my answer. Appreciate it. 👍🏻

This is the cleanest way. You can use a nearby chassis ground for the negative (-) eye terminal, but the closer to the BMS the better… I would use that chassis ground for a much bigger intermittent load like a winch or compressor.

Was the bolt you used for the positive connection blank from the factory and you just found a nut that fit it?

Yes, it is a standard thread 8 mm nylon self locking stainless flange nut from my hardware stash, Ace Hardware can sell you one….
