Have the same ranger but not noticed it yet. Look and see if your 4 wheel lock light (low center of your dash) is lit when it happens. Did it to me a couple of times. Also the light on console. I never touched the button or dial.

You for sure need to take that in and get it taken care of.

I wonder if something is off in thr alignment? One of the settings effects that type of stuff but since it doesnt fo it all the time, maybe thats not it

Alignment does not change when you restart the motor

Since there is no hydraulic power steering pump, this is most likely an issue with the power steering control module (PSCM). It can be heat sensitive so it might start acting up after about 15 minutes. Remember, this is the 2.7L engine and it takes up a lot more room in the engine compartment than the 2.3. It brings the engine that much closer to the module - especially the wiring harness where it plugs into the module. Since the PS returns after restarting the truck, it seems to eliminate mechanical issues and points directly to electrical. If not the module, the heat could also affect the small internal PS motor, gear sensor, or portions of the harness. Also, check your battery. Anything but a healthy battery can literally F-UP the electrical components - especially electronics like modules. Auto start & stop doesn't help either. In any case, it needs to go back to the dealer.

I took it to the dealer to look at steering issues. And while it's there take care of the recalls. It was there for 3 days and they said all recalls were fixed How can they do this without moving the truck out of the parking spot .

Then they said we took it on a test drive and said steering is fine. I told them I can see were my truck is and mileage with the Ford app. My truck has not moved for 37 hrs. So how did you fix it. You pulled down my headliner and fixed air bag recall removed both seats looking for loose bolts . Nothing was done.
