Why is the only 12V inside the center console? Stupid placement.
I lived my F150 with it in the front center console, I could reach it!
how can I add another one, up front? Make it a permanent install is fine by me. Anybody try this yet?

Do you want it hot all the time?

Buy a fuse-able jumper/tap at auto store or where you want. The 30 Amp fuses F23, 24, 26,27, 28 show in service manual to not be used but they have fuses in them. How I did mine for radio. Hot at all times. I pointed the tap down to have access to one above it if needed. Just make sure the tap fuse closest to the fuse box is your 30amp and the other the amp you need 30a or below.

This is a great start!
Now where did you add the socket? How? Did you drill thru the dash somewhere? I want the socket to add in my prostrobe to wirelessly control some lights I want to install. I had this on my F150 and now it’s to difficult to access in the center console
Thanks in advance

Mine was done just for a always hot tap for radios. Looking at the device you need it for, you going to want a good access to it, that's your judgement call and how much work you are willing to do. If you don't have trailer brakes that little cubby hole is where I'd make a way to put it myself, theres one on both sides fairly easy to get out and reasonable access. I used the hole for my trailer brake controller on right side of steering wheel to mount my brake controller knob. Just made a little panel for the spot.

WOW!!! That's a perfect and concise way to explain and illustrate what I needed for the tap. One question. If that's for a radio are you getting static or other problems with it NOT being wired directly to the battery?

I'm using it for CB and GMRS and have not noticed any of the noise gremlins so far. Just make sure you use a good ground, the nice clean metal under dash is were I'm grounded. I also solder/heat shrink connections and don't use crimp connectors. I pull the colored covers off to solder them. :like:
