Yeah, you wont notice as much on white paint but they are there. Black cars are the worst at showing it. Shine a bright light into your paint and you will see it all.I use the spinning brushes all the time.
It's the only way to get all the dirty slurry off we get from road salt and such.
With the white paint I haven't noticed any swirling.
I know the OP has a different issue but I use a power washer, with Meguiar's Gold soap w/ foam gun and a microfiber wash mitt. I also have a stubby gun for my power washer as you never want to use a long wand as you can make a mistake and scratch paint. It gets the paint, spotless, and get a little exercise. Not for everyone but its cheap.
Soap is about $9.
