I ordered that armadillo one the other day. Its supposed to be here thursday.

I have the weathertech step but put it on my son's wrangler so a person has something to sit on at the beach when fishing or girl watching

Fits perfectly. Works great as long as you have the tailgate up. Seems strong enough and well made

I just wrote to the company and asked whether it would fit my truck, and if not, why. I will report back when they respond. I can climb in and out of my truck, but at my age and with my creaky knees, another step wouldn't hurt! And I like the easy installation and hide away feature...
Could you let me know what there answer is too. Where does it attach to the truck?
Thanks

It fits fine. It slides into the hitch receiver. Personally - I think you should buy the Carr version. The Armordillo fold down step is a knock-off of the Carr step. The Armordillo step is made in China and the Carr step is made in the USA. I have a friend that has the Armordillo version and he has some rust after about a year of use. The Here is the Carr step: https://www.carr.com/product/hd-hitch-steps/

Solid Design, but Poor Corrosion Resistance — Spring Rusted in Months.

The functionality of the Armordillo FD Series foldable rear hitch step works well. It folds and deploys smoothly, feels solid underfoot, and does exactly what it’s designed to do in terms of access and convenience. Fitment was good and installation was straightforward.

However, I’ve been disappointed with the durability of the hardware, specifically the folding spring, which rusted after about four months of use. This is in Florida, where humidity and rain are realities, but for an exterior automotive accessory, corrosion resistance should be better than this.

The rust hasn’t completely stopped the step from functioning yet, but it raises concerns about long-term reliability and safety. A higher-quality or stainless spring would go a long way toward improving this product.
