Hi everyone. Just picked up a new 2025 Ranger Raptor about a month ago and absolutely loving the truck so far. I've only put about ~600 miles on it. Finally decided to join the forum after lurking for a bit.

I had a strange HVAC issue today and wanted to see if anyone else has run into something similar.

I'm in the northeast, and after the recent snow/ice storm, I noticed that hot air was coming through the vents, but there was no airflow at all, even with the fan set to max. Same thing when switching to A/C—no air moving. I drove around for roughly an hour with no change.

Then, while sitting at a light, I heard a screech from the front passenger side, followed by a sound like ice cracking and a whoosh of water. Immediately after that, the blower kicked on and started working normally again.

When I got home, I pulled the cabin air filter and found some water in it, which makes me think ice or water may have made its way down through the cowl and into the blower motor area, even though I cleared the snow off the truck well in advance.

I’m curious if anyone else has experienced this on the Ranger Raptor, if there’s any known way to prevent it from happening again, and whether any damage could have been done. I’m also debating whether it’s worth taking to the dealer to get documented, even though the issue seems to have resolved itself.

Appreciate any insight. Thanks!

My AC fan quit working shortly after purchasing my 2024 ranger raptor. Took it to the dealership they had it all day said they fixed it but didn't change out any parts... Has been working fine ever since.

I took mine ('24 RR) in recently for identical symptoms, and it turned out to be a bad blower motor (apparently). Shop still has the truck, but I should get it back tomorrow.

Your situation sounds a little different though, given the snow/ice. That being said, mine was intermittent, it would sometimes work, but no noises or water.

@DongCorleone mind my asking if the cabin air filter access is as easy as some other models? Removing the lower glove box and a little door over the filter/housing?

Only time I ever had a wet cabin filter was when I had taken a previous pickup through a car wash and had the undercarriage wash done. Evidently if the HVAC wasn't set on "recirc," the water was able to get up into the cabin filter housing. It was during the summer and only noticed after cabin started to smell like mold/mildew; from the water laying in with the filter.
