Have any of you notice somewhat different coolant temps (.... which then cause oil temps/ trans temps) to also follow? I have 15K miles on my 24 RR. Have made many longer trips where I get a feel for coolant temps. These are always running empty with no trailer and generally running at 70 mph. Sometimes I will see coolant (+- a couple degrees or) 190. Engine oil always runs about 10 degrees warmer or 200. Trans general runs 10 degrees cooler at 180. After a fuel up but driving the same conditions, I will note the engine coolant run closer to 200 or even 205 which then causes EO at 210-215 and Trans at 190-195.

If I had never seen the 190 coolant temps for hours on end (...and in the summertime) I would think the TStat is a 200 stat, and it wants the engine at 200.

So is there a 190 stat or a 200 stat?

I know the 200s are no worry but just wonder why the operating temps are not consistent.

Thanks for any feedback.

I noticed the same on my Ranger XLT 2.7 and my guess is that it runs around 190 ECT when the shutters are open and 200 when they are closed. With the AC switched on the shutters stay open.

Emissions. Many newer cars have electronically controlled thermostats. For emissions purposes, they allow the temps to rise some for hotter combustion, mostly at lighter loads.

I've seen my oil temps climb up to 222F just cruising on the highway at light load…yet when I towed a 3klb car dolle + broken down Hyundai they stayed at 195~201F. I can assure you it's not broken and that's normal

The coolant will run around 190 when the shutters are open and around 200 when they are closed. If the climate control is on the shutters may stay open resulting in the 190 temp.
