When I was under the truck doing my first oil change I noticed that the front passenger CV boot has ejected all of its grease onto the surrounding suspension components. Took it to the dealership and it's going to be an axle replacement under warranty (whenever the parts arrive). I've got two questions: First, what kinds of things could cause a failure like this in under 5k miles? My best guess is that it occurred during a road-trip while pulling a trailer, but I've never touched anything in that area and am not aware of anything that might have caused damage. Second, from watching a couple YouTube videos it seems like you have to take apart almost everything in that wheel well to replace the axle: What should I be watching for or asking about to make sure everything gets put back together like it should have come from the factory?
