Tomorrow I head out to Ohio from Central Va., about 550 miles one way. I have less that 1900 miles on it so this will be my first significant trip. Looking forward to some me time with the Raptor.

Going to be surprisingly smooth trip. We went from Houston to the Grand Canyon-Las Vegas- Los Angeles and back during thanksgiving and put like 7k miles on our raptor. Went smooth and fun. Only seen 1 other raptor total and in Vegas. Lol. Got about 24mpg and averaged 450 miles per tank on 93. So it went well.

Well I am overnighting in Charleston, WV. What an awesome smooth trip except for this. On slight down hill in traffic with moderate on and off throttle, I noticed a bumping feeling. I looked at the tachometer and it was bouncing between about 1800 and 2100 RPM, corresponding to the bumping in the engine/driveline. It recovered quickly and the rest of the trip to Charleston was uneventful.
Thoughts?

Thanks. Was cruising about 75-80ish in 2H on normal mode. Sometimes a bit higher. I’ve experienced better mpg at a higher speed with less throttle if that makes sense. My wife’s explorer st was quite excellent on road trips with the same mods. The raptor has a ford performance tune, cvf intercooler, K&N intake and gfb bypass valve. But hers was getting like 26-28 mpgs.

I can’t tell you what could be causing that? I have never experienced that. Was it 4A? Or 2H? What mode was it in? Was it shifting up and back down? Not sure. I really couldn’t tell you. Sounds like shifting back and forth or something.

I usually cruise no greater than 5 over the posted speed, which the highest was 75 I think.
Arriving at my destination in Ohio I have 20.9 after filling up in Charleston.

It was normal 2 WD mode. It was heavy traffic, almost like adaptive cruise was weirding out. Even though it was off at the time.

What a trip so far. Some guy tried to pick me up in Charleston. And this morning my CC company called and confirmed attempted fraud attempts. Good thing I keep a spare CC in the truck.
I should be flattered that some late 20's to 30's dude was hitting on me. But he was being as ass trying to.

Just wanted to post an update on my recent trip to Los Angeles(Disneyland and Universal studios) I made this similar trip last November, not sure if I mention this before on this posting. I forgot to rest my trip setting before I left Houston but I reset it on my way back home. The truck ran great as always. I got a lower mpg this time because I was running a bit quicker on the highway that before but I’m still happy with the outcome of mpg and performance overtaking slower vehicles. Don’t mind the Distance to empty LOL. I had just got home and hadn’t fill back up

On my round trip to Ohio I averaged just shy of 20MPG. This includes the mountains of WV.
