Hey All,

Seeing a lot of success from people getting their Pro Cal tune device installed. I have called a handful of local dealers that are indicating they don't perform any tunes. I am confused as this is a device that is provided by Ford Performance. They seem to have no idea this exists. What information can I provide to them to convince them to do the installation? I would have to imagine as Ford continues to release this functionality across multiple vehicle lines this is something they are going to receive more requests on?

The installation seems pretty straight forward... If I didn't care about the warranty, I would just install it myself... Any tips would be appreciated.

My local dealer wasn't opposed to doing the work, but what I did was arrange for my window/door control module recall to be applied to my truck, and then asked the mobile tech who was scheduling with me to come to my office if he would be willing to complete the application (last step) for writing the ProCal calibration file to my truck so I could submit the repair order to Ford Performance. He said no problem (this is a tech who was going to be writing software for the recall anyways) and said it should be like $150.

I then setup my FP account, downloaded the software to a computer from the ford performance site. Updated the ProCal4 and then plugged into my truck to marry to the VIN and download the backup of stock calibration file. I uploaded on my computer and was able to download the tune. At this point I stopped and it was ready for the tech to plug it in to the truck and press Continue to write the tune. He didn't even charge me and just wrote a line item in the RO so I could submit for warranty registration via email, (which is done and VIN registered confirmation received).

Thanks so much for the reply. I had not read anything about needing to send a warranty email to Ford Performance. Do you have a link to any of that information so I could research up on it?

I would ask to speak to the parts/service manager about it, they will tell you if they can do it or not. If you are dealing with anyone else then id just escalate up. There isnt much to installing the tune honestly, so you are probably just getting the "we dont want to do it" lines, not that they cant.
