Hey guys,

today I took delivery of my brand new 2026 Marsh Grey Raptor. I will keep this thread updated with my mods, maintenance and thoughts. My last truck what a 4Runner 2016 that I kept for 10 years. That truck has set the bar quite high as far as reliability goes, but I felt like getting something new.

I recently tried mostly all trucks on the market and only 2 made the cut : The Dodge Ram 1500 Rebel with the 5.7 Hemi and the Ford Ranger Raptor. I finally went with the Raptor since I do prefer the handling and capabilities of a mid size truck.

So here it is:

The Marsh Grey Brute

On this picture, I own it for less than 20 minutes, so it is as vanilla as it can be.

But few minutes later, I already had the 4DTech Autostop Eliminator installed. That thing took like 6-7 minutes to install. That was a MUST HAVE.

I do like the wheels, so I will keep these for now. However I think that the tires are on the flimsy side. I will probably sell these as brand new (less than 25km on it (I am in the montreal area if you are interested)) and go for BFG K03 295 or 305. I don't mind the E rating. I am travelling far on the gravel roads of north canada and I like the peace of mind of strong tires. I ran 275 BFG K03 (E rating) on my 4 Runner for 10 years so I am use of the harsher ride. It is a truck afterall

I am not interested into a lift a this point, so I will do some research around. If you have hint on the 295 or 305 fitting on stock wheels without a lift, please feel free to share!

I took a chance and ordered an Amazon Armrest ...

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality an comfort of that thing. I will keep it.

I am a big fan of the matcho driving style ... one hand on the steering, and the other arm on the side of the window, or the armrest depending of the weather.

Therefore, this armrest add a very cushy feeling under the forearm and it looks vanilla if you ask me.

After shopping around for a while, I finally installed the RealTruck TruXedo TruXport (Gen 2) soft roll-up tonneau cover.

I wanted a soft cover that would roll up tightly. I personally do not like the folding panel-style covers because I often drive long distances with the bed open, and I hate having my rear view blocked by the folded-up panels.

After a long selection process, I finally picked this one up for $379 USD. There is also a Pro version with a lower profile and a different material, but I did not really trust that material for our slushy Canadian winters.

It fits well and looks good enough to me.

The installation took me around two hours. I really took my time and was in no rush. Here is roughly how that time was spent:

20% on the actual assembly.

40% adjusting everything to get a perfectly centered fit.

20% looking for the tool I had in my hand 30 seconds earlier.

20% shaking my head in despair, wondering how I have survived this long while being this dumb, after realizing the mistakes I had just made.

For the price, this thing is not bad at all, but there are two things worth mentioning.

1. Locking assembly

The locking assembly is all platic. I really wonder how reliable this thing will be over the years. I have bought MUCH CHEAPER tonneau covers in the past that had all-metal locking mechanisms. This is the one thing that made me a little disapointed about the product.

2. Instruction adjustment

The instructions clearly state that you should use the middle notch on all six brackets.

However, to get a proper fit, I had to use:

• The middle notch on the four brackets closest to the cab.
• The first notch on the two brackets closest to the tailgate.

Had I followed the instructions 100%, the cover would not have clipped down properly at all.

I will come back here later with an update on water intrusion and long-term reliability. I live in Canada and will use the truck for off the grid snowmobiling trips, so that cover will face ALL weather elements.

That is a classically great cover and looks awesome on the RR! Awesome choice!

I installed a tempered glass screen protector, and I have to say that, for the price, it is a very good value.

The common screen protectors I had seen in the past were transparent films or stickers, but this one is actually made of glass (or very hard plastic, I could not say).

It came very well packed, with alcohol wipes and all the necessary stickers for installation, which took less than five minutes.

It seems to stick to the original screen through static adhesion. When I first installed it, I misaligned it slightly and was afraid that removing it might leave residue on the truck's screen, but it did not. I removed it, reinstalled it, and got it perfectly aligned on the second try.

Since it is a hard glass protector, I did not have to struggle with bubbles like you often do with traditional stickers protectors.

I really like the finish. For some reason, fingerprints do not seem to stick to it very much. It looks very good, does not feel cheap, and does not interfere with the screen's touch response at all!
