Is anyone using Gaia GPS with Android Auto? If so, do I need the premium version? I have the basic free version which I got several years ago and it's not showing up in my list of selectable apps in my Android Auto app.

I've using Gaia app for a couple of years now. I do have the premium version for all the benefits listed on the website.

I create tracks/routes and save for use while off pavement. With the premium, I can download maps for use when not in cell service--like Colorado, Utah, and even in the Smokey Mountains.

Are you logged in to your GAIA account? If you still have problems, download a brand new copy of the app and use their free trial to test the Premium features.

If you want to try another nav app, look at OnX Offroad, it is really excellent for anybody doing remote driving in the Western states.. The $40 Premium version is what I have, they do have a free 7 day trial with all the features. I much prefer the combination Satellite and Topo 2D map to any of the GAIA map layers, which are harder to read while moving. The OnX 3D maps are very beautiful, but you cannot download them.

These pics show the GAIA Overland map layer (my favorite) on my iPad Mini, plus the OnX Offroad Satellite/ 2D Topo on the Ranger main screen, the difference in detail and clarity is startling. The green and blue routes show OnX trails, they can be toggled on and off.

FYI, this is GAIA’s Satellite Topo layer, which is most similar to the OnX Offroad one shown above, for that same exact location, but it is much less readable when you are moving, the highway numbers are much smaller.and the side roads numbering is non-existent..
