Has anyone else had this issue? -My GPS doesn't always start up right away when I enter a destination. It doesn't seem to make a difference whether it's an address typed in or a 'recent.' I get the little submenu with the green 'go' button. I press the green button. Nothing happens. I then go back and hit 'recent' (because the destination I entered is still saved in memory). The process repeats. Sometimes it takes 5-10 minutes of driving, and all of a sudden the GPS wakes up and starts giving me directions. This doesn't happen every time. Sometimes GPS starts immediately, no problem. But the occasional delay (about 3 times out of 10) is getting annoying. I'd like to think there's just a system update needed, but this has been going on for six weeks or so...

Have your dealer check it out, perhaps you have a bad antenna or cable, or a loose connection. I assume that you do not have the antenna partially blocked by a rack or roof top tent, and that you have a solid cell signal.

BTW it is not called a GPS, it is your factory navigation system, it uses GPS signals to pinpoint your position on the stored base map. To get new POIs - points of interest - and routing, you must have a decent cell data signal. However you can save them:

“Frequents and Favorites

Automatically save your frequent destinations and favorite stops to your Ford vehicle so you can keep moving when data coverage is limited. Plus, use voice commands to ask for directions to get you there.”

We have been having the same problem for a few weeks. Usually it works, but when we leave our house it sometimes takes a few minutes to start working. I haven't asked dealer. It is probably a software problem with the nav. It is not than annoying yet.

Thank you for the response about the Navigation System. I have two recall notices that I need to go back to a dealer with, so I'll add this concern to that list. You assume correctly there is nothing blocking the antenna. I have an ARS shell installed but it's low profile and does not extend above the roof of the truck. The 'failure to connect' issue happens with both new entries and 'Recent' destinations saved in memory. Typically, when the truck navigation won't connect I just use my phone and connect that way through Car Play with no problem...
