I'm studying for my Ham Radio certificate. Anyone mounted a Ham radio in their truck yet?
I had GMRS in my Bronco but am wanting to move up in capability.

I have one in my Ranger but it won't help you much. My Ranger is a 2002. I do plan to install it in a 2025 if Ford makes what I want.

Get one with a detatchable head and mount the body under a seat. There a a lot of mini sized radios like the Retevis RT95. I use a box with two radios that sit on the floor either front or back and can easily be set up outside for events. There are ways to control the radio remotly and possibly through the vehicles Blue tooth and audio systems.

I know a guy who put a Ham radio in his truck, and he loves it for all his road trips and off-roading. He mentioned that getting a radio with a detachable head made the whole setup way easier. He could hide the main unit under the seat and just have the control part up front where he could use it easily. Some of these radios can even hook up to your truck’s system, which is pretty cool.
If you’re looking for radios, there are some really good ones that are small but still get the job done.
