How to disable Front Passenger Airbag?

Maybe I'm a little old-fashioned, but I can't find a way to disable the front passenger airbag other than disconnecting or cutting wires. Am I missing something or is that airbag not meant to ever be disabled?

It self disables based on occupancy in my truck. Probably based on a weight sensor in the seat, or maybe seat position.

Ps: To legally disable an airbag you need to submit a written request to NHTSA and, if approved, the work has to be done by an authorized dealer or shop. They’ll install an on-off switch so that the airbag can be enabled whenever the vehicle occupant doesn’t meet the requirements for deactivation.

Its a combination of tension on the seat belt and a hydraulic bladder in the seat that connects with a hose to the OCSM. Based on the pressure it calculates the weight of the occupant and disables or enables the passenger air bags.

I installed several dozen on off switches for fleet customers and private citizens, prior to passenger detection systems were developed. You can search Google for “Airbag on off switch” and find out where you can get one. There are laws in Canada and the US regarding disabling airbags legally. One of my suppliers was airbagsystems.com
