Yes you can add or decrease how much trailer brake your trailer needs.

I believe for electric breaks, not surge breaks.

In addition to the + and - Gain buttons,, to operate the brakes manually during setup or in an emergency (trailer sway), you squeeze the two bars together (slide the right one toward the fixed left one) to send current to the trailer brakes. You may never need this device, but it doesn’t hurt to know how to operate it….

I am not sure if this is exactly how the 2024 Ranger is set up. I have never towed with my truck.
