Anyone else’s OCD triggered by only half of the non-Raptor Ranger’s taillights being functional.

I found this picture as I was scrolling through my photos.

lasfit led on driver side.

was during the day but you can see the reflectors at work on the bottom of the tail light assembly.

I believe that having the bottom part be reflective does in part makeup for the lack of lights.

If Ford put LED lights along the entire rear taillight assembly on a Lariat, then the cost to manufacture would go up @ $1-$5 a bulb, for maybe 8 bulbs, so $8-$40. As it is, had to buy a new taillight, $2260 w/ my sales tax @7.5%. Of course, Ford buys thousands of these things so their cost is less.

Maybe our friends @F150LED could come up with an upgrade kit to light up the rest of the taillight assembly for a more reasonable price.

Say $100-$200.
That is the price point where I would actually consider doing something about it on my business fleet trucks.

$1000 -5000 is really never going to be a feasible solution so for now I am just going to have live with it, it bugs me but doesn't bug me that much. lol

Would not be hard for them to do using a string of LEDs, 3M tape, and their T clips on the appropriate wires. Maybe the reflector has to be removed first? Don't know if that is possible or would interfere with the additional LED lighting.

It appears to be hit and miss. I picked up my ‘25 XLT from the dealership last week, driving it 350 miles through the dark, snowy night to get it home, thinking I had big, powerful LED taillights to warn other drivers of my presence.

Fast forward to today, when I followed behind my spouse driving the truck during another bout of thick snow and gray skies, only to discover that those beefy-looking taillights were in fact so diminutive they looked more like a child’s first pair of earrings flanking the rear than well-researched technology designed to support my safety 🤯. No rear reflectors visible like the ones in your pic, even with my headlights shining directly at the taillights. I’ll need to come up with a solution for next winter, as those wimpy little worms 🪱 masquerading as lights will not cut it on their own.

You would have to cut the lens off, as they are sonic welded to the main body. or cut the back of the housing behind the reflectors to put the lights. I did something similar when I built a set of led projector headlights for my 2012 escape. I got the clear reflector model of aftermarket headlight, and after I opened it up, I put a switchback led strip under the reflector where the side marker light went.

the headlights weren't sonic welded, but "glued" with permaseal sealant. I had to bake them in the oven.

I have a set of Diode Dynamics C1R's (marker, brake, reverse) under my bumper on my xlt.
