New Desert Sand 2026 2.7L Lariat owner!

I ended up trading in my 2023 Ranger Lariat on Tuesday. It was a good truck, but it was time for an upgrade! It pulled my small travel trailer good, but since I'm going to BC next year, I wanted something with a bit more power. I had to go with what would fit in my parkade as it has a 6.25' max height and the one I went with fits like the 2023. I had to switch the antenna from the old to the new as well.

I bought a 2026 Ford Ranger Lariat 2.7L V6. No FX4, no sport pkg, just the normal Lariat. The options the truck came with our the black appearance pkg, advanced towing pkg & tech pkg, splash guards, floor liners tray style, block heater, box side step, convenience pkg. Got it in Desert Sand exterior colour. Even though it is the same truck, it is so much nicer! I find it interesting how in the bed it only has the 120V outlet and not the 12 volt power outlet as well. I wonder if the wiring is there for the 12 volt and just not installed.

The new trucks payload is only 95 lbs less than what my old Lariat had. We will see how it does on Friday as I am towing my travel trailer 320KM's round trip. My truck will have a few heat cycles into everything and about 280 KM's on it. I know it is still in the break in period, but I work during the week and don't have time to go put on an extra 500-700 KM's before towing. My trailer has a GVWR of 4,000lbs and I think I'm only sitting at about 3,500 lbs at most.

My old 2023 Ranger had just a tick over 50,000 KM's on it and they gave me $40,000 for it! MSRP was $65,195 and I paid $62,384 before extras, taxes, no doc fee. My dad works at the dealership so got family pricing... I got a 5yr/80,000KM service plan as I only put on maybe 6,000 KM's a year. This way I don't have to worry about having to pay for oil changes, brakes, filters, etc for the next 5 years. I'll just pay the extra little bit to have Full synthetic oil at the oil changes, which I will be doing every 6 months months. So all in $72,167.75 as I still had $5200 owing on the other truck after the trade in value. Prices are in Canadian dollars. I am now set for the next 7-10 years!

I really like that color. I don't think it was available on the '24 models, or I would have selected it. Mine is a serviceable but boring white.

I like my 25 RR in Desert Sand, quite rare in Canda actually !

Could have got a 2.7 Lariat to be more sensible, but hey I had to get that suspension...

With a ProCal tune,new wheels and tires, a 2.7 is a killer truck, best bang for the buck

I'm in Montreal btw,Rangers are rare in Canada.

Was in Europe lastyear (Italy) and this summer (Croatia / Slovenia), man they love Rangers, and more than half were Raptors! Quite popular.

My 2.7l experience. I did an oil change at 1000 miles. We started a month long trip at ~4000 miles. I had the oil changed at 5000 miles (pulling a 3800 lb camper). The oil was very dark. We pulled the camper ~4000 miles. At 10000 miles I had the oil changed. This time the oil was not overly dark. My thoughts are that the increased turbo use towing the camper did the final job of setting the rings to the cylinder walls. I'm not sure how many miles it took, but it seems that the first 1000 miles of towing did it.
