New guy here saying hello.. It was a bittersweet evening a few weeks ago. Said goodbye to the most reliable truck I've ever owned 2013 F-150 5.0. 150K trouble free miles but she needed some upcoming maintenance and work here and there and I just didn't want to sink any cash into it. But whoever picks it up will get a great used F-150 with a lot of life left in it that was well maintained. It was a pain in the butt to park a lot of the times especially with the six and a half foot bed and 13 MPGs filling up a 36 gallon tank was getting old and very expensive. The wife says I work hard treat yourself. Said hello to a brand new Ford ranger FX4 with the 301a package. I got rid of my boat years ago so not towing anything heavy except for my double kayak trailer, and utility trailer. I'm hoping this will just be as reliable as the f150. I got a really good price on this it was a 2024 left over with 15 mi on it I did get the extended warranty 10yr bumper to bumper warranty for peace of mind as there's so many electronics. Very impressed with the pickup on the 2.3 took a long road trip the third day I had it 21 miles of the gallon on the highway I could barely scratch 16 in the F-150. Could not be any happier with the ranger . I considered a Tacoma but I had a 2017 and it was an absolute POS and considered the frontier for hot second but I've a Nissan's in the past and did not have a positive experience with them. The only dislike on the ranger I wish it had flat back floor and the seats would be able to individually be lowered or raised like the F150, but the pro's out weight the cons
I do have a question I'm in the market for a truck cap. I've been to three truck cap places and they will not sell or install a truck cap for me. They're stating my truck needs J braces in the bed. I spoke to the dealership they talked to the parts department and according to the VIN my truck was reinforced from the factory and no need for the aftermarket J braces. My build date was 9/18/2024 and according to my research the bed should already be reinforced from the factory. I made an appointment with the dealership to bring it in this Friday to confirm. I took pictures underneath but I don't know what the hell I'm looking at but looking at the picture I took and TSB looks like I am good to go. Looking to learning more about the ranger. Not new to Rangers my dad has a 04 he bough new now with over 200k trouble free gas hog miles .

Bed Cap the most urgent one I have a gunner crate for my dog that I secure to the bed that's were he rides most of the time except not in the summer, that and i hut fish, camp, kayak, and its nice having to throw all the crap in the bed and have it secured.
Possible Exhaust

You mean your 2017 TACO wasn't made of gold and didn't have red carpets rolled out in front of it as you drove down the road? Seems to me the reason the older gen Taco's had "legendary reliability" because they were "legendarily underpowered and slow", meaning that engine and powertrain was under very little stress due the low output, which inherently makes it somewhat more reliable.
