My brother and I did a couple day trip up to Yosemite. It was our first time and the sites were amazing but it was more touristy than I would have wanted. I also need to mention we pretty much only hit the main loop so perhaps that is our fault for not going in further. It was around 60-70s during the day and got down to 30s at night. I am more of a warm weather kind of guys so needless to say I was freezing my a** off at night. Our small Coleman bbq and burner was not cutting it in the 30 degree weather so now we are looking into stepping our game up.

Outside of talking about the trip this was my first long distance drive with the new wheels/tires. Since we didn't really do any off-roading the only thing I can speak on was the road noise and that I had to cut slots on the wheel well splash guard in order to fasten it back because the tires were grabbing at it when I would go in reverse. Besides that I didn't have any issues with the drive.

It was a beautiful place but I think I would take Sequoia over it. Sequoia seems like there are way less people on the main roads and even fewer on the trails. I do want to see what is past the main loop in Yosemite. Maybe it clears up once you're past there or you have to explore the offshoots outside of the main park.

Nice little adventure! Gotta start with the highlights first, that helps you decide where to go next. I did a moto adventure of that area and camped at the KOA Yosemite West back in '14. Spent a few days there and covered a lot of ground.

How do you plan to step-up, as mentioned, for you next adventure?

Edit: Dig the soft toppers!

Yes, I think next time we will plan a couple more days. This was just a quick weekend trip so we didn't get to do much.

We need to focus on some cold weather stuff. Our small coleman grill was not cutting it in the 30 degree weather and I guess my MTE vans are not up for the challenge. As far as the truck goes I think I need to upgrade the leafs. Besides that I should be good for now.

What brand of bed cover are you running? Spruced up your image a bit. Can't help myself.

Thanks! I will add it to the collection.

It is a Softopper. My brother had one initially on his Tacoma and it has been pretty solid so I decided to go for it. I haven't had any issues with it at all.

We were at Yosemite in October 2024 for three days. It is extremely beautiful, but I was surprised at the sparse accommodations for such a popular park. Tunnel View, Mariposa Grove and Glacier Point were the highlights for me.
