I got my truck a week ago. I didn't think it had bedlights until I looked closer at the bed when installing my bed cover. They don't turn on when I open the tailgate or any other door. I found the switch inside the cab that turns them on. Is that the only way they turn on? I looked it up in the manual and it looks like they should come on when any door is open. But that isn't the case for me. Am I doing something wrong? Do your bedlights come on when you open the tailgate? Thanks

I didn’t think they were lights because I had never seen them on; I thought they were plastic placeholders. I’m curious to know why I haven’t seen them on so I’m gonna watch this.

Interesting , I never knew they were supposed to come on with any door opening.
ā€˜Only way I ever turned mine on was pushing the button inside.

Curious if there is an auto on mode in the vehicle lighting setting.

So it’s not just me. I was actually hoping something was wrong with my truck so I could get it fixed. So stupid that you have to press a button in the cab to turn them on.

They also have an annoying timer. Tried using them while working on something in the dark, putting it on my tailgate for a bit of light. Don't know how long exactly, but they don't give a lot of time before you need to hit the button again.

Mine only turn on/off when I press the button, not when I open the door as well unfortunately. It was a stand alone option and not part of any lighting package so I'm not sure if that makes any difference.

Interesting it says there that it only can be used when the ignition is turned off, but I can turn them on when the ignition is on and engine running.

The up high 3rd brake light comes on when you open the door or with the remote but the bed lights only come on when the dash switch is turned on they stay on for a timed event not sure how long I added LEDs under my bed cover
I am probably going to do the same and ass some bed lights. I found a great youtube video that shows how to set it up to go on when the tail gate is opened. It uses a magnetic switch

I'm trying to figure out how to get lights into the glove box the kit seems kinda pricey.
Could you tie an LED strip into the deco lighting in the horizontal storage area above it in the dash and wire a release switch in the glovebox?
