Push button start on an XLT ? Is that not an option on an XLT ?

I was recently looking at the build and price tool. Trying to spec some XLT Ranger 2.7s for possible use as sales trucks in my company. I have mainly XLT F150s now, and couple of my sales guys really are not hauling a whole lot these days. I am thinking there is a couple of them would be fine with Rangers.

Anyway, I am not seeing a way to put push button start on an XLT, is that correct or am I missing something?

Not that I know of. Its super annoying. Every other vehicle I drive is push button and I never remember to take the keys out before I get into the truck. Ive done it 1000 times and my muscle memory just wont adapt to it.

There are aftermarket push button ignition systems, but until someone tells me they are foolproof and easy to install I'm not going there.

Thanks !

Well, based on the time of year, I guess I could wait a couple weeks and see if the 2026 models get it added to the option list. My fleet rep said 2025 Ranger order cut off was Sep 19th, that the order guides for the 2026 should be coming out very soon a day or so before or after the order bank closes for the 2025 models.

My personal Ranger Raptor has push button start along with like you said pretty everything else I own or drive.

Well I do have a 25 year 2nd gen Cummins that is still keyed ignition, but I rarely ever drive that truck, doesn't have cameras either. LOL

All my current F150 sales trucks have push button start and they are all 2021-2023 models.
I am really sort of surprised anything still uses real keys these days.

It’s not a stand-alone option, but is included in a pricy package on the Ranger XLT. I wanted it as well, but not all the things that came with it in the package.

Which package is that? I was unaware - granted I bought mine off the lot, not custom.

I did a factory order on my Ranger and the salesman went through all the available options. I don’t recall everything in the package or it’s name but it did have a power seat in it as well.

I also did a factory order for my XLT. Push button start is not an option for XLT’s in either 2024s or 2025s. I don’t know about 2026 though.
I was just looking at the build site - when did they add this “Convenience Package”? You can get LEDs and another power port in the bed of the XLTs now.

I have an XLT with all the bells and whistles possible for this trim (Roughly 50k with taxes).

It has no push button start (yet countless other vehicles have it standard).

I would love to know Ford's reasons for doing this.

Is there really substantial savings there? Are these sourced in the USA at least?

I went through all the packages never saw it listed or spelled out anywhere as being part of one of them. I guess I could have missed something.

Here’s a bit of clarification on pushbutton start on XLT models: According to the dealer that sold me my 2024 XLT, the prior year 2023 Ranger had three XLT packages, 300, 301 and 302. The pushbutton start was part of the high level 302 package, but for reasons only known to Ford, this package was not carried over to the new gen 2024 XLT’s.

I also did a factory order for my XLT. Push button start is not an option for XLT’s in either 2024s or 2025s. I don’t know about 2026 though.
I was just looking at the build site - when did they add this “Convenience Package”? You can get LEDs and another power port in the bed of the XLTs now.
Those were things that were standard on XLT High on '24 models, maybe base XLT, IDK.
They removed them for '25 MY so that they could charge $570 extra.
They also dropped the running boards from FX4 in '25 and lowered the FX4 option by $250. The boards can be added for $750. But this makes more sense, as there are better running boards out there and can be easily installed.

Interesting. I think I remember seeing the two power ports on all XLTs, but not the LEDs in the bed itself. That’s kinda weird they removed the running boards though, it’s a truck one would think that could come standard or request a delete.
The whole package with the power port and LEDs though is fairly new and not for the full model year. I ordered my XLT 301A in February 2025 and that option was not available. So was just surprised it was back.
