My Ford Performance door sill protectors on the drivers side is crooked. It was installed crooked from the factory. I know I could probably get the dealer to redo it but for time and simplicity sake (and out of curiosity) has anyone removed these? A heat gun maybe?

I’m wondering if anyone who did get them off if they remain in a condition where it would be easy enough to do so without damaging them and in a condition where I could just stick one back down so it doesn’t look shitty everytime you open the door.

So, I purchased a complete set from Australia to install in the back door jams. They are made from very thin material, aluminum I think, with multiple strips of two sided tape. With all this being said, my feelings are that trying to remove it would definitely bend them & probably ruin it. I would definitely ask the dealer to do something about it, that way you know it will be replaced with a new piece if they bend the original taking it off which they probably will because they won’t care due to knowing they’re just replacing it. Good luck.

In my 2025, the door sill plates were dealer-installed, so check your window sticker to see who installed yours. I pushed back on my dealer when accepting the vehicle and had to point out that they were not acceptable prior to receiving the truck. They ordered new ones which came in a few weeks later.

My guess is the dealership won't do anything about it after you accepted the vehicle, but your experience may be better than mine.

I've heated them up with a heat gun and removed them. Just use patience.
Replace the tape to reinstall. It's not that hard to do.
