I bought my wife a 25 Bronco OB with 2.7, Non SAS .
I bought a 25 Ranger Lariat 2.7, the Ranger is much quieter than the Bronco.
The Bronco has a noticeable grumble for a V6, I though it was on the same basic platform?
I also has a 18 f150 with the 2.7 and it was about as quiet as the Ranger.
Not complaining but was wondering why...
Don't get me started how the Bronco gets better mileage than the Ranger ...

I would say the length of the exhaust run will make for different sound.

Just bought a couple 2.7 Rangers for my business and drove them close 500 miles home Friday.
Use to have a 2.7 Bronco as well.

I agree the Bronco was louder, where the Rangers are very quiet.
Given the difference in length of exhaust systems I am sure that plays some sort of factor.
But it be my guess that big contributor to it is the lack of cabin insulation in the Broncoā€˜s.

The Bronco had to have been one of the loudest interiors I have ever owned.
The same lack of insulation materials that allow all the road and wind noise to intrude into the cabin space, is also likely to be allowing a lot more engine noise to make its way inside as well.
ā€˜The large plastic and glass greenhouse the Bronco has actually could contribute to not only a different db level but also a different tone .

flip the ranger into sport mode and compare that. I can't find any official documentation, but I swear the exhaust note on the Ranger gets more throaty when you switch it to sport.

I know my Raptors have drive modes.
I didn't think the 2.7 Lariats and XLTs had those drive modes.

I've got an XLT. Off the top of my head I've got normal, Evo, sport, mud and ruts, slippery and sand. I turn the drive mode selector counter clockwise as normal seems to be the top of the list. Give it a try on the lariats you picked up.

I have used sport mode on the highway in Bumper to Bumper with no difference, On My 25 it is a pushbutton with the different modes, The Rotate button is for 2H/4H/4L. Sport mode is best for bumper to bumper on I95...

Yea, I tried to find the drive modes on one if the Lariats this morning.
ā€˜I was surprised that the rotating dial was for 4wd control and there was a button to activate different modes.
ā€˜Seems it doesn’t remember the mode I had it in when turned it off, but I wasn’t all that surprised by that since my Raptors won’t stay in Raptor mode either after a restart.

If we’re talking exhaust note, no only the Raptor has a variable valved exhaust where you can change the sound with different modes. There is not any adjustable valves in the 2.7 exhaust.

I have to press the little Flag few times to get where i want, I normally leave it in Normal, tried few modes on highway , only use sport when im in 95 rush hour from nh-ma or ma-nh ;)
So far pretty happy with it, like them both for different reasons, they both handle left lane 95 NE speeds well ...

I was playing around with eco mode, I think it was shifting a little smoother in eco mode.
ā€˜Not that it shifts hard in normal, but I could feel some of the down shifts in normal, where I didn’t feel the down shifts in eco. I assume the modes are altering trans shift points as part of the programming of the different modes.
