It won't get lumpy over time, at least that has been my experience with these heavy mats (I too have the Ford-branded one). It's too heavy to mold into the bed contours much even when stepped on.Makes me think that this mat will get lumpy over time, or it'll have lots of air gaps under it that will squish when stepping on it or putting something on the mat.
Did you find that to be the case with yours? Makes me think an aftermarket mat would be better as it follows the contours of the bed.
I am not sure why following the contours of the bed undulations is an advantage? But that's your decision; I like the idea of water flowing out from under the mat, and air helping to dry out any remaining moisture. I'm also not convinced that the contoured aftermarket mats won't themselves trap water underneath.
But either way, they're cheap enough that you can try one and change your mind later.
