RR Beadlock Rings - Use Them As Trim Rings Only?

Hey Everyone, sort of new to the forum.

OK so I really like the look of the Ford Performance beadlock rings ( M-1021K-BL1 ). The give the wheels a nice pop. I'd install them the way the yare supposed to be used but I guess it's a safety risk for hwy driving. I assume you can just take off the trim rings and use these as trim rings? I looked for other aftermarket trim rings but there isn't much selection, mostly just the stock one in different colors. I like the bare metal look. Expensive for how I'd use them but I figured I could actually use them as beadlocks when I eventually go on an overland trip.

Also if any of you know of a place to get some nice bare/polished metal (not chrome, gross) beadlock trims, please send them my way.

I think you could install the trim and not seat the tire bead in it. I agree it would help the wheels "pop" a bit. Not sure if the instructions call for it, but you can loctite the fasteners down pretty good. Could even use red loctite if you plan on leaving the rings on it

Also, food for thought... the trim rings they come with are aluminum. You could strip and polish them too. Mine came with a tiny bit of rash on the passenger side so I had them powder coated to color match the truck.

The functional rings will protrude quite a bit as they have relief for the bead to seat.

Man, the stock beadlocks do not need to be made any heavier than they already are if it serves no function, unless you like the look THAT much.

Stock beadlocks weight around 37lbs
Stock NON-beadlock 28.25lbs
Lighter aftermarket flow forged wheels 22 to 25lbs

You should be able to find used trim rings on Facebook marketplace pretty easily.

The machined beadlock ring does change the look of the wheels a lot compared to the dark grey factory beauty rings! Just remember, it doesn’t matter what everyone else’s opinion is, it just has to make you happy!

your look great ... so I just picked mine up at the dealer, and they were totally f'cked up. Tons of divots, and the acrylic coating on them was chipped. My guess is some pot smoking dummy threw it in a box with the bolts all lose (box was 2x too big), and stuff just bounce all over in shipping or they were returned.

Anyways the coating in them is dogshit, any rocks will chip it.

I don't think I'd recommend them after seeing the finish chip so easily.

How are your weathering? I am super pissed off, I knew the box looked off. I really want them (new ones of course), but I am worried about rocks chipping this horses#hit finish.

Mine stays in the garage since it is not my daily driver, and I have not been able to take off work since I bought it to go have any real fun with it, so they still look new.
I am extremely ocd and take care of my stuff, but if they get some wear and tear or rash on the rings from wheeling it, I’m ok with it.

When my rings were shipped, the bolts were still in the the plastic bag, but I could see how the could easily get under the rings and beat the rings up during shipping.

I returned them and their response was: "yeah they are probably gonna reship the same way..."

wtf kind of comment is that? incompetence. No lets call someone to make sure it doesnt happen again. Gonna chat with a manager on Monday.
