Washed my Lariat for the first time yesterday. This morning I noticed flecks of black all over both sides of my truck. This afternoon I looked closer and saw my tires were really oily. I figured I must have run over an oil spill or something. However the underside of the truck is clean. Also, it looked like oil was running from the lettering on the tires. I just now took it to the car wash again hoping to wash off whatever got on my tires. After washing the tires looked worse, so I wiped them down and came home. At home I wiped off all the new oil spots on the truck and patted down the tires again.

Any ideas what this could be? Does the WOW car wash tire cleaner release something from the Goodyear tires? Any thoughts on how to get all that crap off my tires? Simple Green? Dawn? Brake cleaner?

My guess -The "wet tire spray " that detailers used at the dealership when they cleaned your car.
I had to to use bug&tar remover and a cloth to get the black specks off my wifes paint once. I will never use that crap on my tires. It makes a mess

Yeah agree with the other comment - sounds like shitty dealership wet-look tyre shine. The stuff is horrible and I always make sure to remember to tell them to not use it! I had to scrub and scrub to get the shit off after my first service - it flung oil residue all down the side of the truck. Horrible shit. It gunks up around the lettering too so sounds like what you’re experiencing.

Try using dishwashing liquid and a medium bristle brush to try to remove it. Might take few goes!
