On my 2025 Ranger, I have an issue where the Forward/Back buttons on the steering wheel don't always work correctly when in radio-mode, and I believe it to be a software issue, not a hardware issue. Anyone else every see this? And does anyone know how to inform Ford of software issues without the hassle of bringing the truck into my service center to get it documented that way?
Normally, when in radio mode, a momentary press of the wheel's Forward/Back buttons will change the radio to the previous or next saved radio station. However, ever since the spring software update, this feature is sporadic and won't always work for me, and I have to wait until I restart the truck for it to work again (and sometimes I have to restart the truck multiple times before this feature comes back).
I've confirmed that the buttons still work correctly in every other way, so I'm assuming it's not a mechanical or wiring issue. When in radio mode, I can hold the Forward/Back buttons and the radio will fast-forward/fast-reverse through all the radio stations. Then when I switch to MP3 mode, a momentary press of the buttons will move forward/back to the next individual song in an album. Yet when I go back to radio mode, the momentary press still won't work. This is why I think it's software-related.
I've futzed around with different features and button presses to try to reset the system while driving, but no luck (The closest was pressing and holding the Volume Down and Back button simultaneously, and while I did get confirmation of a reset on the center screen, it did not fix the issue). Does anyone know of a better way to reset the system while the truck is on?
