I installed the S&B cold air intake and it has been great, but within a day of install, i started noticing a ticking/rattle noise that sounds like it is deep in the dash but is most likely in the engine bay corresponding to the CAI based on timing of install and noise starting. i have inspected the intake for any loose connections and everything is tight. I haven't been able to get under the hood while the ticking is happening because it goes away in park or neutral and i haven't enlisted my wifes help yet. Debating putting it up on jacks in drive with parking break on to get it making the noise while able to inspect. I'll try to get a video of the ticking today and am open to ideas. No codes or lights on the dash and the truck still runs the exact same. it happens with A/C on or off so it isn't associated with any of the fans or ventilation system. More to follow and i'll update as soon as i figure it out. Worst case i'll put the stock intake back in just to see if i can still hear the noise and if i cant figure it out i'll just take it to the dealer for them to troubleshoot it under warranty.

Anything new on this? I’m am upset with S&B customer service (ordered mine a month ago and now told it may ship at the end of August) that I’m considering buying something else. IF you can verify that the S&B CIA is causing a problem I will for sure cancel my order and walk away from S&B for good.

I took my truck to dealer for alignment check and to look into rattle and they said it was caused by the intake, they tried tightening everything down but it didn’t help. I’m going to take it out and replace with stock and drive for a week to see if ticking goes away but.

Turns out it was the bracket itself that was holding the original intake in place. It turns out the bolt wasn’t tightened from the factory. Once I tightened that it stopped and has been perfect since.

Ranger Raptor intake bracket rattle FIXED!!!!!

Thanks for the response. Did you ever hear this before you installed the intake?

no, not a single time. Not sure if the old intake was more flexible and didn’t transfer the rattles to the bracket as much or if it was tighter to the fender so it didn’t move as much but it didn’t start until I put the S&B in. I did take it to the dealer and they said the rattle was because of the intake and said to put the stock back on but it turns out the intake is perfectly fine and it was part of the truck itself. Not saying it is always the case but I’m more and more inclined to second guess dealers recommendation if they don’t make sense

Thanks for the reply. I have the same sound and it happens in the same instance, but I never changed my intake. I will give it a look anyway. Mine started at about 3500 miles.

It’s super easy to get to that bolt, mine felt super tight with a wrench but it wasn’t seated all the way, maybe just stuck on pain in the threads, broke it loose and got it all the way tight and rattle was gone!

I also have the same issue. Feels good to not be alone! But sucks that this is an issue. Seems like a simple solution though 🤘
