Truxedo Sentry CT

Just joined the forum. I purchased a 2026 Ford Ranger Raptor last week and i'm looking at purchasing a tonneau cover. I did a bunch of research and it seems like the Truxedo Senty CT is the cover for me. I live in northern ontario where we get a lot of snow, so i need something that can hold the weight during a heavy snowfall and I like how it rolls up instead of folding like the traditional hard covers.. I won't be installing any racks, so i don't need the slotted rails. I'm looking for something sleek that doesn't stick up to high. Anyone here have one installed on a newer raptor? Any pictures? Is there anything I should look out for with this cover? I'm seeing mixed reviews on the clamps that hold down the bed rails. I also see that suppliers recommend a tail gate seal. Any info and tips I can get with this cover would be highly appreciated, thanks so much.

I have the Sentry CT on my '24 Ranger Raptor. It is fine, but I liked my Bak X4S much better. The X4S is more secure, quicker to open/close, and easier to keep looking nice. The Sentry CT uses a marine canvas-type material on top which is showing a bit of wear after 2+ years. I also had a lot of issues trying to get the Sentry clamps to fit properly.

Anyway, just my $0.02.

I don't unfortunately, and with the exchange rate, it wouldn't be worth it. I found a place in canada that sells the cover for $1530 cdn with free shipping and no hidden import/duty fees. If you think i can get it cheaper through one of the RealTruck dealers in Canada let me know, everywhere that I checked sells it for $1820 cdn.

Definitely worth doing some research on both! One thing I’d keep in mind is that with just about any rolling cover, extreme cold, snow and ice can make things a little less cooperative.

The Sentry CT is a great option, but even TruXedo notes that prolonged cold can make the fabric stiffer and recommends clearing snow and ice before rolling it up. So I wouldn’t necessarily choose between the Sentry CT and X4S based on cold weather alone.

Both are solid covers. I’d probably look more at which design, finish and operation you prefer for how you use the truck.

I probably won't be opening it too much during the winter. The box is pretty small on the ranger so it wouldn't be hard to grab things from the tailgate. I'll keep looking at both options. Thanks so much for the reply.

I now live in the PNW so we see a lot of moisture, on three week ski trips the weight of the snow has never been a problem for my covers. The key is make use they fit properly when you install yours.

I now live in the PNW so we see a lot of moisture, on three week ski trips the weight of the snow has never been a problem for my covers. The key is make use they fit properly when you install yours.

Installation is so important for all those factors, absolutely!

I live in a snowy area, we get about 75" a year, and I've never really had any issues with it. I do clear the snow from it before driving though. I do get a little water in the front corners and by the tailgate though. The only "downside" I can think of is that if you open the tailgate with the cover closed, you have to open the cover a little bit to close the tailgate, otherwise it binds a bit on the rubber seal. One of the things I like about this cover is that there are two slide pulls on the under side near the cab that let you remove it tool free.

Awesome! And yes, keeping the snow off of the cover helps to maintain it overall. Snow gets heavy, and it can freeze up some of the mechanisms if it melts and refreezes.

The seal at the tailgate is designed to work whether the tailgate is open or closed, but we still recommend closing the tailgate first, then latching down the cover. If you ever have any issues, feel free to reach out to me!

Good to know, they're much cheaper than the Sentry CT. How much snow do you get? We get quite a bit over here. I'm worried about it sagging from the weight of the snow. Thanks for the reply.

The patented spring-adjuster and floating Velcro keeps the cover tight year-round in all weather conditions. Just like with Sentry CT, it's still a good idea to clear off the snow when you can to keep it in working order.

It looks great. I'm leaning heavenly on the Sentry CT. I wonder if there's some weather stripping or something that can be added to stop the water in the front corners. Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.

Definitely good to clear off the snow. They actually give out tickets if you get caught driving around with snow on your vehicle. The snow would only be on it whenever I leave for a few days and don't take the truck.
