Water intrusion in the bed

I wonder if expanding foam would work under the bed rail caps and in those two large cavities in the top corners of the front of the bed? Maybe that would help with water intrusion. Not sure how chemicals in the foam would affect painted metal.

That could end up creating a moisture trap that could eventually convert perfectly good steel into iron oxide.

I have been wondering the same thing. And I'm not sure I'd agree. Any method anyone has posted about sealing things up potentially has this water trapping / rust issue. What makes sealing foam so different? If everything is dry and you apply the foam, it probably gets a better "fit" that any other method up in the 2 large cavities the OP mentions. I am curious about the chemical makeup of the foam and if it would be too caustic for the paint.
